Bus & Tram Discount
If you are:
- Living in London
- And aged 18 to 60
- And receiving Income Support, Employment and Support Allowance or Jobseeker's Allowance*
- And not getting any other free or discounted travel
You can get a Bus & Tram Discount photocard to:
- Pay half the adult Oyster fare on buses and trams when using pay as you go
- Get half-rate Bus & Tram Passes
*You must have been receiving Jobseeker's Allowance for a minimum of 13 weeks
Apply for a card:
Go to a post office with proof of welfare income and identity. They will give you a form and assist with any problems.

Council Tax Exemption
You may be disregarded for Council Tax purposes if:
You are ‘severely mentally impaired’
This means anyone who:
- ‘ has a severe impairment of intelligence and social functioning (however caused) which appears to be permanent’; and
- Has a certificate from a registered medical practitioner confirming this (which may cover a past, present or future period); and
- Is entitled to one of the following benefits:
- DLA middle or higher care component
- Attendance Allowance, Constant Attendance Allowance
- ESA
- Incapacity Benefit- any rate
- Severe Disablement Allowance
- Income Support including a disability premium due to incapacity, or whose partner has a disability premium in their income-based Jobseekers Allowance
- The disability element of Working Tax Credit; or
Is over state pension age and would have been entitled to one of the above benefits if under state pension age
